When you come from a large, close-knit family, like I do, it's easy to feel extreme, ridiculous pride.  You find yourself bragging to coworkers that your nephew was the BEST atom in his first grade play (so life-like, and he didn't even cry once). Your cousin's college-bound daughter?  Between her brains and her determination, you've already started calling her "doctor," even though she's nowhere near starting med-school.  And don't even get started on how good looking you all are!

I've always loved my cousin Joel's cooking and supported him from the many restaurants he worked at in Chicago, to the restaurant he and his wife, Heidi, opened in South Haven a year-and-a-half ago.  I gush, I can't help it.  And sometimes I think that maybe I'm going a little overboard.  Maybe I only think the food is so good because my cousin, who I love so much, created it.  Seeing him realize his dreams maybe, in some way, flavors the food a little more for me than for the average patron.

If only there was confirmation!

Enter Detroit Public TV's "Under the Radar."  An episode aired yesterday featuring a restaurant in South Haven, and quote, "....a couple who fell in love over their love of food."  Start watching around the 15:00 mark.

I'm so proud.  Way to go, cousins!  Congratulations on Taste's success!
