This is a fairly new concept that is being tested out in my hometown of Rochester Hills, Michigan but I would really like to see it make its way over the Kalamazoo/ Battle Creek area. Apparently Oakland University Police Department is offering the opportunity for people to donate a new, unwrapped gift for Children's Hospital in exchange for a waived ticket, according to WWJ Detroit. The gift must be valued at a minimum of $10, which is way better than paying the $30 charge for an expired parking meter ticket.

The program runs until Thursday, December 6th and their police are accepting drop offs  between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Oakland University Police Department, 201 Meadowbrook in Rochester. The objective is part of a plan for the university to collect toys for Children's Hospital of Michigan's Snowpile program. Would you like to see Kalamazoo adopt this idea?
