In the market for a Northern Michigan getaway cottage?  An auction house has put up for auction a lighthouse near North Manitou Island west of  Leland in Northern Michigan.

According to the story at M-Live,  The North Manitou Shoal Light is on the auction block as there has been no buyers found in the past year.

The lighthouse is two stories with a three story tower.  It features a fog horn and working light and is located just southeast of North Manitou Island in Lake Michigan.  Great views of not only the Manitou Islands, but also Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Inside there are four bedrooms, modern plumbing and generator-powered electrical service though the conditions of these are not known.  The concrete base is anchored into the bottom of Lake Michigan in 26 feet of water.

The U.S. General Services Administration, which sells obsolete properties, started the online auction process for this lighthouse and three other lighthouse properties in mid-July.

It reportedly had an opening bid of $25,000, but the auction website lists a current bid at $10,000.   If you are interested there will be a visit to the lighthouse on August 30th.  It is only open to those who pay a $10,000 deposit.

The photos show that a lot of work is needed.    If you want to read more on the auction you can check out the details and latest bid here.
