It's no secret the Founding Fathers liked to drink. Thomas Jefferson once said of wine, "I have lived temperately... I double the doctor's recommendation of a glass and a half of wine each day and even treble it with a friend." While Sam Adams was swilling dark rum, and Ben Franklin binged on Madeira, George Washington was brewing his own beer. And now a brewery in New York has brought Washington's 260-year-old recipe back to life.

Brewmaster Dan Jansen of Blue Point Brewery says he faithfully followed the recipe to create 30 barrels of Washington's beer, dubbed Colonial Ale, and, fittingly, will present it tonight following the presidential debate. If it's a hit, you could be able to purchase George Washington's beer at a store near you.

In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, and in water there is bacteria - Benjamin Franklin
