While the dismantled, controversial Fountain of the Pioneers sits in a city warehouse on Stockbridge Avenue awaiting an uncertain future, I almost didn't realize what had become at its former location in Bronson Park.

Visiting the downtown Kalamazoo park on a recent Lunchtime Live Friday, I saw people casually sitting on a concrete lined green space and needed a double take to realize this was the former home of the missing Fountain of the Pioneers.

No matter what you think of the removal and whether it was justified or not, those who were visited Bronson Park on this recent Friday didn't seem to have any thoughts for the old fountain and were clearly enjoying the new landscaping.

Below is a look at the dismantling of the Fountain of the Pioneers from the spring of 2018 after the city council voted for its removal.
