Friend of the Rocker Morning Show, man-about town, movie critic, and raconteur, Ryan Jay stopped by The Rocker Morning Show to talk movies opening this weekend.

  • Burnt:
    • I loved it. It’s on my short list for top 10 faves of the year.
    • It’s so passionate.
    • I had no idea how intense they could be -The stakes are high.  There’s a sense of urgency.
    • I felt a rousing feeling like you feel in a sports movie – when you don’t care about the sport but the story sucks you in and you’re so invested by the end – this movie does that to you as well.
    • See it!
  • Our Brand is Crisis:
    • Showcase for Sandra Bullock – covers all her greatest abilities
    • You feel the hate between Bullock and Thornton
    • Feels overall like a long “Scandal” episode
    • Has some great moments.
    • Rent it!
  • Truth:
    • Truth is a docudrama about the time when Dan Rather and his CBS news team reported on the validity of George W. Bush’s military service and it is quite the dramatization. It’s one of those stories that’s, like, “you just can’t make this stuff up.”
    • Topher Grace is in it and I was shocked that he won me over… he did very well in this movie.
    • It’s an intriguing and aggravating story.  The storytelling is good but it’s not a must see in the theater.
    • Rent it!
