Can You Help Solve This West Michigan Mystery?

Last week I happened in to a local watering hole to meet up with a friend. As he and I are catching up, we get in to a conversation with a regular patron of the establishment who said he's been cleaning out his parent's old house and finding treasures from Kalamazoo's past. This photo, though, is a head-scratcher. He's not quite sure if this photo is from bygone Michigan, or a blast from northern Indiana's past.
