I'm sure many of you have heard by now, but Metallica is going to release their original demo tape, No Life Til Leather, on cassette for Record Store Day.  The cool thing about this release is that it's an exact replica of the original tape.

Now, who still owns a cassette deck?  Listening to an album on vinyl, in my opinion, is the absolute cat's ass.  To me, when you listen to something on vinyl, you're getting that album in its purest form.  When something is put on CD (or mp3), the quality of the music suffers because the album has to be compressed.  In short, Ramone loves vinyl.  But cassettes?  I know there are some hipsters out there who still love cassettes, but why?  I don't remember cassettes sounding all that great (plus you have to carry a pencil with you at all times in case the tape unravels).

Well, I guess I'll find out on Record Store Day, because if I want to get this limited edition No Life Til Leather release, I have to get me a cassette deck.  I just hope bands putting limited edition releases on cassette doesn't become a regular thing, because Cassette Store Day doesn't have the same ring as Record Store Day.

Plus I really don't want to buy a cassette deck.  I mean, who the hell is selling cassette players...
