It is hard enough to pick one winner in any sporting event, try 64 matches.  A cat in Russia has been chosen to predict how the 2018 World Cup will turn out.

According to the story from Inside Edition, a Russian cat named Achilles will predict matches in the 2018 World Cup in Russia that starts on Thursday, June 14th.

Achilles, who is also deaf, joins a list of animals in predicting the World Cup in recent  years.  He follows in the footsteps of an octopus named Paul that successfully predicted matches at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The last World Cup in 2014 in Brazil had a pair of animals, a Guinea pig and a piranha but neither of them were very successful.

Achilles will predict the winners by having to choose between two bowls of food.  Each one will have a flag of two countries in action.

Now this won't be the first time he has been asked to predict matches.  Achilles predicted three out of four matches at last years FIFA Confederations Cup.

The event is a tune up for the World Cup and it was a great way for Achilles to practice for this summer.

I will keep an eye on Achilles this summer to see how well he does.  If he does end up having a great record at picking matches, wonder if they will allow him to take a crack at the World Series or the Super Bowl?   He can't be any worse than most of the sports experts out there.
