Charlotte Russe, a much beloved women's clothing store has declared bankruptcy and will be closing 94 stores across the country. Fortunately, Southwest Michigan seems to be getting a reprieve, as the four Michigan stores on the chopping block are:

  • Dearborn - the location at 18900 Michigan Avenue
  • Howell - the location at Burkhart Road
  • Okemos - the location at 1982 W. Grand Rive Avenue
  • Saginaw - the location at 4667 Fashion Square Mall

Citing a "dramatic decrease in sales and in-store traffic," Charlotte Russe is trying to find that sweet spot between online presence and brick-and-mortar store. With more and more people doing their shopping exclusively online, many storefronts are experiencing a financial hemorrhage. Between Toys R Us shuttering their doors, and many Sears locations closing for good, does this most recent bankruptcy signal a turn in the tide? Is going to the mall a thing of the past? Only time, and how we spend our money will tell.
