Chris Stapleton and Jason Aldean were some of the bigger winners at the ACM Awards last night, but the evening's festivities also made room for some classic rock favorites, with a David Bowie tribute and an appearance from ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons part of the program.

Country star Eric Church paid tribute to Bowie and a host of other rockers who've passed away in recent months, working their honors into a performance of his single "Record Year." The song, which name drops classic albums while sprinkling vinyl-lover lingo between laments for a lost love, proved the perfect forum for Church to work in snippets of other artists' hits.

Aside from Bowie, who he honored with bits of "Changes," "Suffragette City" and "Fame," Church paid tribute to Motörhead frontman Lemmy ("Ace of Spades"), Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland ("Vasoline") and Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey ("Already Gone").

Classic rock reared up during another part of the ceremony, when Gibbons appeared for a performance of the ZZ Top classic "Tush" alongside country stars Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert.

The awards show, which marked the 51st annual event hosted by the Academy of Country Music, found Aldean walking away with Entertainer of the Year honors and Lambert winning Female Vocalist of the Year for a record-setting seventh consecutive time.
