Collin Rose Memorial Dedicated At Richland Police Station
A new memorial has been installed on the grounds of the Richland Village Police Station, to honor a former officer who died in the line of duty last year.
WWMT reports that on Thursday, a plaque and flagpole were dedicated to Wayne State University Police Sgt. Collin Rose, a native of Richland who got his start on his town’s police force. The flagpole had been a part of the Collin Rose Memorial Run on July 4, and the plaque reflects that.
A memorial had previously been installed in the Richland Village Square.
Sgt. Rose was killed in November of 2016, while investigating reports of theft near the campus of Wayne State. In March, a man named Raymond Durham was arrested in Detroit for shooting at two police officers; DNA evidence has possibly connected Durham to Rose’s murder, but no charges have been filed.
