[REC] is poop your pants scary.  'nuff said.

Another found footage film, [REC] is about a young reporter and her film crew who follow a group of emergency workers into an apartment builder where they are locked in with...zombies!!!!  This isn't your normal found footage film, though.  Since the group locked in the building are reporters, they have to use the lights on their cameras, which just happen to be recording all this, to see through the dark building.

I don't want to spoil this, or give too much away, but [REC] is one of the scariest movies of the last decade, and most definitely one of the best found footage films.  It's a Spanish film that inspired the American remake, Quarantine.   Don't be an a-hole and skip over this because it's in Spanish with subtitles.  [REC] blows the American remake away.  Plus, the last five minutes of the film will make you crap yourself.

The film has 3 sequels, with the second taking place immediately after the events of the first film, so you could technically watch [REC] 1 and 2 in one sitting and it'll view like one long movie.  [REC] 3:Genesis is currently streaming on Netflix and is a parallel story.  [REC]4 is currently being shown on the festival circuit so unfortunately, I cannot comment on that one, however, I've heard good things.

Halloween is a season where people want to be scared.  [REC] is a movie that will terrify you.  Trust me, Uncle Ramone knows best.

Editor’s note: Each day in October, Ramone is picking a classic (or cheesy) horror film to review and share
