This year the NHL turns 100 and this weekend Detroit will host a traveling Centennial Fan Arena in Detroit.

According to the Detroit Red Wings,  the fan arena is a traveling museum and fan festival that highlights the anniversary of the NHL.

The event will take place Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd in the parking lot located at 2130 Cass Ave. in Detroit.

It is a free event that will feature memorabilia, photos and history of the NHL and the Red Wings . It will also feature a chance to have a photo with the Stanley Cup.

Select Red Wings alumni will also be on hand signing autographs.  Larry Murphy, Jason Woolley and Darren McCarty are among those who will be apart of the event.

Along with the museum pieces there will also be a pop up ball hockey rink, a virtual reality Zamboni experience and a chance to donate used hockey equipment that will go back into the community.
