An animal that is rarely seen in Michigan has recently been confirmed.  A cougar was recently spotted in Mid Michigan.

According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the animal was photographed in Bath Township near Rose Lake State Wildlife Area.

Even with the confirmation of the animal questions still remain on where it is from.   This is the first time one has been confirmed in the Lower Peninsula. Most confirmed reports are from the Upper Peninsula,  though there have been reports around various locations in the state.

If you think you see one you can report it to the DNR at  mi.gov/eyesinthefield. If you see physical evidence  do not disturb it.
