Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced by a press release,  that the 2016 bear and elk hunting application period is now open.  It is open now through June 1st.

A total of 200 elk and 6,896 beer licenses will be available for the season.

If you plan to apply the DNR encourages you to watch these videos explaining the drawing process.

You can apply for a license online at mi.gov/huntdrawings or at any authorized license agent or DNR Customer Service Center.

Applications are $5.  You must be a Michigan resident to apply for an elk license and for a bear license you can be a resident or nonresident; however, no more than 2 percent of licenses in any bear management unit will be issued to nonresidents.

Once you apply drawing results will be posted online at mi.gov/huntdrawings starting June 29th.
