This year's pothole season was certainly one of the worst.  A statistic I saw claimed there were more potholes on our area roads then there have been in 15 years.  But I have to say that the millages and other factors that added to the "road-fixing" measures have really gone a long way to not only fixing the potholes but also making the roads in general a lot nicer.  I thought to myself yesterday that we've got more newly paved roads then I can remember in a long time.  And then.......................

Ka-Blam!!!  I ran over a brand new, recently installed manhole cover and nearly tore out my front end!  Is it just me or is there a serious design flaw with the newly paved roads?  Everywhere I drive I find myself avoiding the manhole covers on a brand new road.  Some of these things are pretty deep and are worse than some of the previous potholes.  If you look at the one pictured you can see a red marking that I believe indicates it will be fixed as others have already been.  Watch out for the manholes.
