November saw the closing of the popular Cheli's Chili Bar in Downtown Detroit.  The venue which was owned by former Red Wings Defenseman Chris Chelios, was recently sold.

According to Crain's Detroit,  the building that was home to the long time bar was recently sold to the Ilitch family for $4.1 million.

The actual buyer was listed as 47 E. Adams Ave. LLC, which is registered to an employee of Ilitch Holdings.

The bar closed in November after owner Chris Chelios said he was moving back to Chicago for family reasons.

The bar is located across the street from Comerica Park and was a popular place for fans during the many sporting events in Downtown Detroit.   It featured two stories of seating and had a popular rooftop patio.

No word on what is being planned for the building.  Olympia Entertainment has yet to comment on the building.    What would you like to see done with the building in the future?
