Former NBA Star Darryl Dawkins Dies At Age 58

According to Sports Illustrated, former NBA star Darryl Dawkins has died at the age of 58.

Dawkins was known by his nickname, "Chocolate Thunder" for his high flying, powerful dunks.    He was known for his days with the 76ers and the Nets.  He also played briefly for the Utah Jazz and The Detroit Pistons. He also played for a time with the Harlem Globetrotters. In recent years he moved into coaching.

I remember him mostly for the two backboards he shattered back in 1979.   He was one of the more memorable early dunkers in the NBA.  Check out those two earth shattering dunks below.
