This weekend was great — I had a chance to catch up on some classic horror films.

Turner Classic Movies always run horror classics during the week of Halloween, so I recorded them and finally got around to watching them on Saturday.

HORROR OF DRACULA:
I watched Hammer Films' "Horror of Dracula," which stars the legendary Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. This is up there as one of the greatest Dracula films ever made —some even say the best. I just loved the look of this film, and you can't go wrong with those two leads. The death scene of Dracula is legendary…and to think that it was made in the late 50s.

HOUSE OF WAX:
The other classic film that I watched was "House of Wax" with Vincent Price. This is the one from 1953 (not the horrible remake that had Paris Hilton in it). I did not know what to expect with this movie, and it was great. This was the first color film released in 3-D.  I saw it without the 3-D, but you can tell in the film where they tried the visual gags. The other highlight for me is it featured a young Charles Buchinsky (otherwise known as Charles Bronson).

I like modern day horror, but sometimes you just got to revisit or, in my case, see some of the classics.
