Based on a true story, the musical Hands on a Hardbody, follows 10 down-on-their-luck Texans, each desperate for a new lease on life. Armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they are all determined to endure four sleepless days and nights in a grueling endurance competition in the Texas heat for a chance to win a brand-new Nissan Hardbody truck. In the hilarious, hard fought contest, all they have to do is keep at least one hand on the truck, and they will drive away with their American Dream!

Audiences will find a real, Nissan Frontier truck, center stage as the star of the show in the Parish Theatre beginning January 29th .

The show is an event-based experience and contestants are cut throughout the show, leading to a lone winner. Staying true to the documentary, these are stories from real people who experienced this competition. Set in a parking lot in Texas, the stories were put together and music added, including numbers that play with blues, folk and R&B. Director Sandra Bremer says, “Amanda Green and Trey Anastasio’s score is inspired by the doggedly individualistic, reallife people and musical idioms from country ballads to southern rock, Americana, swampy funk, gospel and delta blues. To me…something for everyone!!” Sandra Bremer is directing and choreographing Hands on a Hardbody, with Michael Peterman serving as Musical Director.

Hands on a Hardbody plays in the Parish Theatre on January 29, 30, and February 4, 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7:30 pm and January 31 and February 7 at 2:00pm. Tickets ($22 - $25 with discounts available for students and seniors) are available through the Civic Box Office at 269-343-1313 or online at www.kazoocivic.com.
