Neil Young turns 69 today.

He just released a new album called "Storytone," where he is backed by an orchestra.  Neil, of course, has been a big influence on one of my favorite bands, Pearl Jam.

Back in 1995, Pearl Jam backed Neil on the album "Mirrorball," and they also toured with him (without Eddie Vedder) behind the album. They have also been regular guest on the bill for Neil's annual Bridge School Benefit concert which happens in the fall. The first I knew of Neil being a big influence on Pearl Jam, was when he joined them on stage for "Rockin' In The Free World" at the MTV Video Music Awards back in 1993.  He has joined them many times since that performance but it was one of those rare performance's that was very memorable. Happy Birthday Neil and enjoy this classic performance below.
