On the Rocker Morning Show, I often point out that there are certain organization that are, not only unique to our area and the world but also, vital to our community.  And more than that, we need to help and nurture them so they can continue to serve their specific need.

One of those entities is Pretty Lake Camp.  As you know, every April The Rocker gets together with this great organization and executes "Stuff The Camper."  But you don't have to wait till then to help out. On Sunday you can be part of the nurturing process.

Together, with Gazelle Sports, they're sponsoring the "Pretty Lake Camp World Run Day." I've included the press release so you can get all the details...

Calling all Runners for 2nd Annual World Run Day Dirty Herd Fun Run @ Pretty Lake Camp

Mattawan, MI – This Sunday, November 9th at 9:00am, Pretty Lake Camp & Gazelle Sports will host the 2nd annual World Run Day Dirty Herd 5k/10k Trail Run. Runners and walkers are invited to take to the trails at Pretty Lake Camp to participate in this fun event.  This year’s gold sponsors include Hills at Law, PC, Johnson Family Dentistry, Stryker, and Zoetis.  Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success with the race meeting its capacity, so early registration for this year’s event is highly encouraged.

World Run Day, founded in 1999, has a simple goal: to come together on the same day - worldwide – to celebrate the sport of running while also encouraging runners to donate to their own favorite charity on that specific day.

“This run is a wonderful way for runners and walkers to be in nature, explore our 250 acres, and participate in an event with hundreds of people locally – and tens of thousands of people across the world,” said Michelle Karpinski, Executive Director of Pretty Lake Camp.  “It’s also a terrific way of supporting the children of our community whom we serve.”  All proceeds go towards supporting the 800+ children ofKalamazooCountywho, each year since 1916, have received a totally cost-free summer camp experience at Pretty Lake Camp.

Registration is $30.  For more information about the event or registration, visit http://www.prettylakecamp.org/trailrun/ or contact Sue Jones, Pretty Lake Camp Development Director at Sue@prettylakecamp.org or Katie Broekema, Gazelle Sports Event Coordinator @ kbroekema@gazellesports.com.
