Did you know that local Foster children show up at their temporary family's houses with their belongings in garbage bags? That's if they have any belongings at all. Some arrive with no coats, no shoes, nothing of comfort that promises a happy ending to their family strife. Imagine it; you're confused, scared, and you have nothing. Want to change that? I thought you might.

Kalamazoo's Junior Jaycees are gearing up for a full year of giving.  Every month in 2018 they'll collect items or donate time to a different cause. February kicks everything off with their signature program: Dufflebags of Love. Drop boxes will be displayed at select Kalamazoo locations to collect care items for foster children. Items include:

  • Backpacks/Duffle Bags
  • Diapers
  • Underclothes
  • Pacifiers/Soft Toys
  • Toothbrushes
  • Feminine Hygiene Items,
  • Stuffed Animals/Games/Toys/Books
  • Blankets
  • Gently Used Shoes & Clothing
  • What did you love as a kid? Coloring books? Play Doh? Matchbox Cars? Bring what you loved so a new child can love it, too.

The best part is these kids get to keep anything given to them by the Jaycees, regardless of future placement. At any given time, there are at least 700 Kalamazoo County children in foster care. Lets show them all some love.
