All signs are pointing to a partial federal government shutdown in Washington D.C.  Most people not working for the federal government don't think it will affect them in any way.  They, unfortunately, would be thinking wrong.  And even though it would be just a partial shutdown the affects would still trickle down to some non-government citizens.

According to 9and10news.com about 400,000 people will be affected directly as they are government employees and would be on furlough which means not working without pay.  Some of the other things that could be directly affected are loans through the Federal Housing Administration could be delayed meaning home buyers might get caught in a pinch.  Also, passport applications could be put on the back burner and, although that probably doesn't affect this holiday travel, it could for people scheduled to travel next month and rely on the process to be complete or they can't go.  Check out some of the other affects by clicking HERE.
