Friend of the Rocker Morning Show, man-about town, movie critic, and raconteur, Ryan Jay stopped by The Rocker Morning Show to talk movies opening this weekend.

  • In the Heart of the Sea:
    • “I didn’t like this movie and here’s why – it’s uneven.  There are moments, few, that stand out as well done and cool; some details are good.  But the majority is poorly edited – so chaotic at times, you can’t focus on what’s happening.  It’s too long and I was primarily bored.”
    • “The score is very repetitive and gets annoying after a bit.”
    • “I’m disappointed.  I was really looking forward to this but it’s long and boring.”
    • Skip it!

  • Macbeth:
    • “I kept going in and out of liking it.  The true acting moments were the best – emotional, raw, interesting.  But the battle scenes were long and boring – nothing interesting or different.  It’s like action movies for me – if it’s not innovative, keep it short.”
    • “The allure of Shakespeare throughout the generations is that regardless of social, cultural and technological changes, the themes remain relevant.  The themes in this story are no exception.”
    • Skip it!
