Is That Bill Shakespeare Over There?

There are just as many Shakespeare haters in the world as there are lovers.

I, for one, am a lover of the Bard, but I can see why a lot of people have a hard time with it.

First, I think that Shakespeare is introduced to students incorrectly. There seems to be more focus on iambic pentameter than on the subject matter, the plot, and the characters.  Second, Shakespeare isn't supposed to be read, it's supposed to be performed and seen; reading the lines can be dry and boring for beginners, and trying to make heads-or-tails out of Olde English can be tricky to start.
