That's it.  I'm not allowed to like anything.  Once I discover something and fall ass-over-elbows for it, it goes the way of the Dodo.

Last week I met up with a friend downtown for lunch.  I'm not exactly familiar with the part of the city he works in, so I left the decision of restaurant choice to him.  He asked, "Have you ever been to Just Good Food?"  When I told him I hadn't, his face lit up, and he said, "Dude, they have this sweet potato side dish thing - it's just... anyway, we're going."

So, we made the quick walk to Rose Street and traversed the catacombs of the lower level until I was face-to-deli counter. Unbelievable treats awaited me behind glass; Chili Relleno by the piece, tamales by the pound, soups, sandwiches, and so much more.  I eagerly ordered the Pork Chipotle Chili, then took a seat and dove into the deliciousness.  Yes, I burned the roof of my mouth, but it was worth it.  I decided right then and there that I would be a regular at Just Good Food...

...and now they're closing.  Because OF COURSE they are.  I find a new place in town with exceptional food, a friendly staff, and a convenient location, and they're closing. This is the Firefly of restaurants for me; it's that soul-crushing.  I'm so disappointed that I was not introduced to this place the second I landed in Kalamazoo. It's times like this, friends, that we have to make a promise to ourselves and each other...

If you love a restaurant, don't hold back; let the restaurant know. Dine there regularly. Order that new quirky dish. Try their latest cocktail - don't take your restaurant for granted because one day you could turn around and find the doors closed to you and a sign that says "Coming soon, Arby's."

Goodbye, Just Good Food.  Our fling was brief, but memorable. There will always be a part in my heart (and stomach) I hold for you.
