Three people are in custody after a multi-county chase through southwest Michigan.

WOODTV says around 3am Tuesday, a Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle in Bloomingdale for having an obstructed plate; instead, the vehicle fled east into Kalamazoo County, where the vehicle hit stop sticks, causing two tires to deflate.

The driver kept going, but eventually the vehicle came to a stop. The driver’s side window was broken out, and deputies tased the driver because they say he wouldn’t comply; eventually he was arrested. It turns out that their vehicle was reported stolen, so 38-year-old Shawn Newnum was arrested on charges of receiving and concealing stolen property, fleeing and resisting police.

His passenger, 34-year-old Kristine Jung, was found to be in possession of meth, so she was arrested as well. A third, unnamed male passenger of the vehicle was also arrested, on outstanding warrants unrelated to the chase.
