In the past, Gene and Paul have made it a huge deal that KISS is four dudes on stage, who play their instruments and blow crap up.  They even went as far as saying that there are no hidden musicians backstage or backing tracks.

Well, that all changed over the weekend.

KISS is currently in Japan playing a bunch of sold out dates at the Tokyo Dome.  To prepare for that trip, they collaborated with a Japanese pop group on a really terrible song, and wrote an original new song, "Samurai Son," just for the Japanese audience.

When KISS premiered their new song, "Samurai Son," they used backing tracks.  From what Gene tweeted, it sounds like the only thing that wasn't live was Paul's voice. The actual tweet from KISSonline read, "Recorded Samurai Son for Japan. To reproduce production here we play live with extra tracks. Nothing to hide."

I'll give KISS a pass this one time, because it's a new song, that was made specifically for the Japanese audience, and this monstrosity will never be played live outside of Japan.  However, if we find out that KISS continue to use backing tracks on their back catalog, then Ramone will be very, very angry at Uncle Gene.

Now, who do we blame?  Gene?  Paul?  Nope.  We blame Tommy Thayer.
