Country Living just released a list of the Best Small Lake Towns in America, and I am certainly surprised to learn that only one Michigan town made the list; Bellaire. Coming in at 17 out of 25 ranked, the article says that Torch Lake is perfect for "kayaking, fishing, swimming, and photo ops along its glimmering 19 miles." At a drive just over three hours, you could enjoy making memories with the family or a romantic weekend in no time. Also, the mooncakes with wild cherry sauce from the Torch Lake Cafe came highly recommended by the article's author.

But really... only one town in all of Michigan (upper and lower peninsulas) only has one town in the top 25? I'm a little taken aback by that. Where else in Michigan could you find a superlative lake experience?
