The CBS Evening News had a story last night about a new tax scam and since tax filing season started yesterday, I thought I'd pass along some of the details and a video from the IRS.

It's a phone scam that starts with the caller saying you've got to pay the IRS a certain amount of money between $1,500- $2000; an amount that a majority of people could possibly get their hands on.  They threaten that if you don't pay them, you're going to jail and you've got to complete the procedure outside the courthouse. Ten to twelve thousand calls are reported every week.

The safest thing to do in this situation is hang up the phone.  Afterall, if you really do owe the IRS money they will first contact you by mail.  Check out this IRS video and pass it along...
