The Little Caesars Arena in Detroit is only a month old and a fan may have already earned a lifetime ban from it.

According to the story at M-Live,  Nick Horvath was kicked out of the new arena and told not to return after he tossed an octopus on the ice at the Red Wings season opener.

He was charged with a misdemeanor after being escorted out.

The throwing of octopus has been a tradition since the team was in the old Olympia and it continued at the Joe Louis Arena through last season.   PETA has tried over the last few home games to get rid of the practice by sending letters to the team.

An update on the story from M-Live says that the Red Wings have replied and said Nick Horvath is not banned for life.

Thankfully this fan must of misunderstood what he was told and hopefully this long Hockeytown tradition will continue.
