Hello, my name is Roy LaFountain, and I'm the Director of HomeCare Transitions based in Battle Creek. I wanted to take just a minute and tell you a little bit about myself and a little of who we are as an agency.

While based in Battle Creek, we serve families from Jackson County west to the lakeshore, north to the Lansing area, and south to the state line. Our clients include those referred from Medicaid Waiver agencies, PACE programs, Workers Compensation insurers, auto insurance companies and those clients who pay for their care privately. We care for folks whose only needs may be for companionship and housekeeping, all the way through to those clients who require significant care, including nursing care, as the result of accidents or chronic illnesses.

Our owners, Patricia Slayton and Thomas Unger bring a combined experience of over 60 years in home care to HomeCare Transitions, and that's huge! But beyond their experience, the thing that I believe sets Thom and Pat apart from others is their hearts. They believe, and it is the cornerstone of this agency, that we must always, ALWAYS do the right thing for the client and their family. That's even if it doesn't seem like the right thing to do for the business. Their belief is that if we continue to do the right thing in every situation, even if it comes as a cost to the business, that good will come back to us ten-fold in blessing.

When I left radio broadcasting in 2013, the first person I contacted for a new employment opportunity was Thom Unger. I had gotten to know Thom through the interviews we did together on the radio when he was the CEO of Lifespan.   Each time I would interview him, I would think to myself, this guy isn't selling ANYTHING. He's sharing from his heart the passion he has for home care. And that impressed me.

I began work for HomeCare Transitions in August of 2014, and in 2016 was promoted to Director. I must tell you that I've not found anything to be as personally and professionally rewarding as my work with HomeCare Transitions. I completely believe in home care, and its incredible value to clients and their families. People want to be home, period.

In the coming weeks you'll hear more from me, and from our Clinical Coordinator Amber Bomia-Laberdee about who we are and what we do. And maybe most importantly, what we can do for you and your family.

As always, please feel free to call us at 269 883 6002 or visit our website at homecaretransitions.net to learn more. We would love to hear from you!
