It took them more than 30 years to do it, but Metallica has officially played on every continent on Earth.  They decided to pop down to Antarctica on December 8th for "Freeze 'Em All," a 10-song concert set under a small dome with the crowd consisting of about 120 scientists and contest winners.  Because of the fragile environment, the music could not be amplified without Metallica enclosing their amps in cabinets while the crowd listened in on headphones.  The show was filmed, but there's no word, yet on when the footage will be released.  Until then, photos of the concert will have to suffice.
