Rainfall as been low through out this month of June and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has banned open burning for most of the Northern Lower Peninsula and parts of the Upper Peninsula.

According to the story at M-Live, the ban is due to a long stretch of below average rainfall for this month.    The ban means that permits for burning things like grass clippings, wood and leaves will not be issued where they are required.

In areas where burn permits are not required, open burning of debris is also banned in the affected counties.

This ban extends roughly north of a line from southern Bay County and through the state to the southern Muskegon County line.
