Ever come across this plant on a walk in the woods? If you're a foodie, you might be tempted to grab it to take home and eat. Meet the fiddlehead.

Fiddleheads are a variety of fern. They are foraged and served steamed, sauteed or fried. They contain a high level of Vitamins A and C.

Fiddleheads are somewhat more common on the east coast but are found in Michigan. A lecture series by the Michigan State Extension in the Upper Peninsula included fiddleheads.

Fiddleheads can be found in Michigan. This morel mushroom hunting site reported Fiddleheads in Berrien County while the Wild West Michigan blog found the plant in the Grand Rapids area.
