Michigan State University has agreed to pay a half billion dollars to 332 victims/survivors who said they were sexually assaulted by former MSU sports medicine doctor, Larry Nassar. The settlement was announced Wednesday, by attorneys for the women, according to the Detroit News. The reports states that $425 Million will be paid to current claimants, and $75 Million will go into a Trust Fund for future claims.

“This historic settlement came about through the bravery of more than 300 women and girls who had the courage to stand up and refuse to be silenced." - survivors' attorney John Manly via MSU release

In the release, a MSU spokeswoman did not address how the school plans to play for the settlement.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, whose office prosecuted the criminal case against Nassar, said "This is about justice for the survivors; each of the women who came forward deserve justice. Those who spoke at the many days of sentencing remain in my thoughts every day, and their strength is an inspiration to us all."

Special counsel Bill Forsyth added that the investigation isn't over. "It is very important to see resolution on the civil side, and I hope this provides some sense of relief and closure for the survivors. That being said, my investigation is still open and ongoing."
