I know this is somewhat inane but I only get sick twice a year and it's always a cold. This year I have my granddaughters Peyton & Sawyer to thank who I now refer to as petri dish 1 and petri dish 2.  I did take Zicam when symptoms arrived but it didn't work this time. Unlike many, I don't load up on vitamin C and I don't drink a lot of fluids.  Since I don't like to take cold medicine, I've developed a "system" to get rid of it as soon as possible. I'm no doctor but it seems to work for me.

First, you have to expel as much snot and phlegm as you can without grossing everybody out.  Most people "internalize" these bodily fluids which prolongs the sickness.  Frankly, I don't care who I gross out.  I'm sick!!!  I let my "freak phlegm fly"!  If I have to hack up a lung, so be it. The other thing I do is wear layers to bed in order to sweat the illness right out of me.  That's my system.  What's yours?

Here's a bonus:  The weirdest cold remedies from around the world.
