The surprise of the 2018 season for the Detroit Tigers was Niko Goodrum.  He was recently honored by the Detroit Sports Media for his breakout 2018 season.

According to Detroit Sports Media on Facebook,  Goodrum was named Detroit Tigers rookie of the year  for the 2018 season.

Goodrum made the team roster out of spring training and was a versatile player for the Tigers. He played at 6 different positions during the season with his most appearances being at second base. He also spent time at first base, shortstop, third base and the corner outfield spots during the season.

He had 16 home runs and 53 rbi's in 131 games played for the Tigers.  Niko began his career in the Minnesota Twins organization and with his past season looks to be staying with the Tigers.

As where he will play in the next season?  We will have to see what he does in Spring Training.  If I had to guess he will continue to be the player that the Tigers can use anywhere.

Goodrum will be presented with the award at an upcoming home game in the 2019 season.
