E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren thanked fans for their support after four of his guitars were stolen in Dallas last week, and said that the instruments were “coming back” to him.

On March 30, the guitarist -- who's played with Bruce Springsteen since the mid '80s -- said he was “devastated” after the guitars were stolen from a van outside a Holiday Inn Express in the West Oak Cliff area before his appearance at the nearby Kessler Theater.

Three Takamine acoustic guitars, a Fender Stratocaster and an electric harp were stolen, so Lofgren had had to rethink his performance. “I’m devastated by this robbery,” he wrote in a tweet. “These are my first shows out after a very difficult year. Please consider a retweet. Alas, the show must go on … it won’t be the show I was planning on. However, I do play on taking the roof off.”

He followed the message with details of the stolen instruments. “I picked these guitars for this particular tour," he noted. "Solo shows. Every tour is different.”

Later, Lofgren's wife tweeted that the guitars had been recovered. “A Good Samaritan, a police sting, handcuffs, guns drawn," she wrote. "People are under arrest. We never lost hope. Crime doesn’t pay.” “Thank you all," Lofgren added. "This has been an unbelievable weekend. Looks like my guitars are coming back to me. Thank you to my crew who had to do double time, just so I could walk onstage. Fellow musicians who lovingly offered their own guitars.”

Lofgren’s U.S. tour continues until April 15, with U.K. dates to follow in May.
