Nine Years Ago Today Magglio Ordonez Hit His Legendary Walk Off Home Run

This year was a forgettable one for the Detroit Tigers.  On this date nine years ago, we saw one of the greatest home runs in Tigers history.

Magglio Ordonez's walk off home run versus the Oakland Athletics.

Game 4 of the 2006 American League Championship series against the Oakland Athletics.  The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 9th  Magglio Ordonez was up with two on two outs.  He launched this classic walk off three run homer to send the Tigers into the World Series.

I will always remember this game not only for the home run but because right after Magglio hit the home run, my TV at the time went black and died.

A great moment in Detroit sports history.  I hope someday the Tigers can get back to the point where they can give us another classic.
