As a little girl, Barbie was the most prevalent representation of female beauty in my house.  Not only did my sister and I have a few dolls between us, commercials for the latest edition of "Barbie (insert new occupation here)" ran every break between Saturday morning cartoons.  Young girls grow up idolizing the tiny waist, the slender arms, and the long blonde hair, just assuming that one day, they'd look just like that.  But Bab's measurements are not only unrealistic... they're impossible.  As detailed in this data, Barbie's neck is so out of proportion she'd have a problem lifting her head.  Her 16" waist makes room for half a liver and a few inches of intestine.  Her child-sized feet versus her upper body proportions would render her crawling on all fours.

What would Barbie look like if she were ACTUALLY average size?  Pittsburgh-based artist Nickolay Lamm decided to use his talents to answer that very question.  He received so much support for his design after it went viral, that he's started a crowdfunding page to get the doll made and distributed.  Click here to see the wonderfully average his doll's design is, and find out how you can help.
