Today October 18th is Willie Horton Day through out The State Of Michigan.

According to The Detroit Tigers,  October 18th  is Willie Horton Day.  Honoring the Tigers star on his birthday, who had 14 great years with the team including their World Series Win in 1968.  The outfielder and designated hitter also had the honor of his number being retired and a statue among the Tigers legends in the outfield at Comerica Park.

The State of Michigan recognized him with this day  back in 2004 for his humanitarian efforts in Detroit and throughout the State.

He remains active in the community and is currently  the Special Assistant to Tigers Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Al Avila.
