This week is Kalamazoo Beer Week, and on Tuesday the wife and I journeyed to Gonzo's BiggDogg Brewery for some brew and grub.

Greg "Gonzo" Haner was the original brew master at Olde Peninsula "OP" Brewpub and Restaurant in Kalamazoo, so if you're a fan of OP's ale, you're sure to love the beer over at Gonzo's. Plus, Gonzo's brother, Chris, is the manager at Green Light Music and my rock n' roll partner in crime.

Tuesday's ale was Dark Death, a delicious stout sure to please anyone who loves dark ales. Plus, you've gotta love a beer called "Dark Death."  It sounds like a metal band.  And in case you're curious, I paired my Dark Death with the giant hog burger (not the real name) loaded with bacon and pulled pork and a killer sriracha mayo!  No joke, that sriracha mayo is where it's at! I could eat that stuff with a spoon.

Since Dark Death was brewed for beer week, it's most likely gone by now.  Don't let that discourage you. Gonzo's Vanilla Porter is freaking delicious!

If you haven't been to Gonzo's, give it a whirl next time you're out and about in downtown Kalamazoo. It's located in the old Mazda building, next to the Mercedes dealer. Hey, if you get drunk enough, maybe you'll buy that new Mercedes you've always wanted.
