Despite a down year for the Red Wings, Jimmy Howard has had an All Star season.  With his latest start in net he will join elite company with the Detroit Red Wings.

According to the Red Wings, Jimmy Howard will play in his 500th game tonight (February 14th) against the Ottawa Senators.  All 500 games have been with the Red Wings.

He joins long time Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood and Hall Of Fame great Terry Sawchuk, as the only goaltenders to have played over 500 games with the Red Wings.

As Howard plays his 500th game in Detroit,  there has been talk about the team trading him as he is a free agent after this season.

There has also been talk of him being re-signed.  The trade deadline for the NHL is Monday, February 25th.

I have had mixed feelings about him over the years but he has been the best the team has had.   Hopefully he can stick around but if they move him hopefully it will help the future of the franchise.
