One of the highlights of the recent Centennial Classic between the Red Wings and the Maple Leafs was the announcement of 33 of 100 Greatest Players in The NHL.  The Detroit Red Wings were well represented on this list.

According to the NHL,  Five Red Wings legends were announced as the first 33 greatest players on the list.   That list featured Gordie Howe, Sid Abel, Alex Delvecchio, Ted Lindsay and Terry Sawchuck.

Many of these 33 players actually made it to the ceremony before the game.  Other greats were represented by family members.

The first 33 players announced where those who played in the first 50 years of the league between 1917 and 1966.

The rest of the players will be named during the NHL All Star Weekend in L.A. coming up later this month.

I'm sure we will be seeing more Red Wings names featured on this list when it's announced.
