Today is a bitter suite day for Iron Maiden fans.  First, it's founder Steve Harris's birthday.  So, it should be a time for celebration, but unfortunately, on this date in 2013, former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr passed away due to complications from MS.

Clive played on the first three Maiden albums, including The Number of the Beast, which was the first album to feature Bruce Dickinson, heavy metal's greatest front man.

Being the massive Iron Maiden fan that I am, losing Clive was like losing a family member.  He was an amazing drummer, and Lars Ulrich cites him as one of his main influences.

In memory of Clive, everyone crack open a bottle of Trooper ale, put on the Number of the Beast, and crank that sucker to 11!  Up the Irons, Clive!  Thanks for the music.
