Today would of been the 69th Birthday of the great Syd Barrett.  Syd of course was a founding member of Pink Floyd.   The first song I heard Syd featured on was, "Interstellar Overdrive".  One of the great instrumentals that Pink Floyd ever released.  The first song I heard Syd sing on was probably "Astronomy Domine".  Both of those songs are featured on Pink Floyd's first album, "Piper at The Gates of Dawn".

Syd left Pink Floyd in 1968. He eventually released a couple of very interesting Solo albums,  "The Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett".  If you want a great overview of his work pick up the compilation, "An Introduction to Syd Barrett".  It features many of his best songs and it was put together by David Gilmour.   I would have always loved to have seen what Pink Floyd would of done if Syd didn't have his mental issues.  So if you get a chance put on the headphones, turn up some old school Pink Floyd or Syd Barrett solo work and tune out.
