Well, the unemployment rate has fallen nationally, and here in southwest Michigan we have an "employment" problem as companies struggle to find enough people to work for them.

On the other hand, the wage gap continues to widen between the richest and poorest.

To give you an idea, from 1979- 2011, the average after-tax income for the bottom 20 percent rose by 48 percent, according to the C.B.O.  But the top 1 percent saw incomes rise by 200 percent during the same period.
